Academics are supporting a small, friendly and supportive SEN college in Great Barr who are seeking a dedicated and experienced Learning Support Assistant to join their team from January 2026.

About the Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students aged 16 and over, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential. Working closely with teaching staff and other support professionals, you'll provide tailored assistance based on individual needs - including in-class support, 1:1 sessions and support with life and vocational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised and group support to post-16 learners with a range of SEN needs (e.g., autism, ADHD, moderate learning difficulties).
  • Promote independence and personal development in both educational and social settings.
  • Support the implementation of EHCPs and individual learning plans.
  • Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience working with post-16 students with special educational needs - this is essential.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work well as part of a small, collaborative team.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, SEN, or support work are desirable but not essential.
