Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) - Birmingham

Location: Erdington, Birmingham
Start Date: Immediate, Part Time (1 Day - Tuesday / Thursday)

Academics is proud to be working in partnership with a SEN School based in central Birmingham. This school is a dynamic and forward-thinking educational setting with a strong commitment to creativity, inclusion, and excellence. We are currently in search for an experienced and qualified Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to join their team on a Temporary basis working 1 day per week, which will be long term.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take a strategic leadership role in shaping SEND provision in a setting that values innovation, inclusivity, and student-centred practice.

The Role

As SENCo, you will:

  • Lead and continually improve the provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Manage the full cycle of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), ensuring all legal and educational requirements are met.
  • Provide training, support, and guidance to teaching staff to ensure high-quality, differentiated teaching strategies are in place.
  • Track and monitor the progress of SEND learners, implementing timely interventions to support improved outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure holistic and effective support for all SEND students.
  • Contribute to BCI's growth by promoting its inclusive approach to education, helping to attract new learners and establish the institution as a centre of SEND excellence.
  • Stay current with national SEND policy and ensure compliance and best practice are embedded throughout the setting.

Candidate Requirements

We are seeking a committed and experienced professional who possesses:

  • A recognised SENCo qualification (mandatory).
  • In-depth knowledge of current SEND legislation, frameworks, and statutory responsibilities.
  • A proven record of success in improving outcomes for learners with additional needs.
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational, and leadership skills.
  • A proactive, innovative approach with a genuine passion for inclusive education.
