We're working with a specialist secondary SEN school in Birmingham that provides high-quality education to students aged 11-19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and a range of associated learning needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and reflective teacher who thrives in a calm, consistent environment and is committed to helping neurodiverse learners succeed both academically and personally.

The Role
As a class teacher, you'll lead a small, well-supported group of learners with varied profiles, all of whom have EHCPs. You'll be responsible for designing and delivering differentiated lessons, focusing on communication, functional skills, independence, and emotional development.

You'll work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including support staff, therapists, and senior leaders who are passionate about delivering structured, therapeutic, and pupil-led education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs and EHCP outcomes

  • Foster a calm, consistent classroom environment that supports emotional regulation and learning

  • Use a range of structured communication systems, such as PECs or visual supports

  • Collaborate with support staff to implement positive behaviour strategies and promote engagement

  • Monitor and report on progress, adapting strategies as needed to meet each learner's goals

  • Engage families and wider professionals in the review and development of pupil progress

What We're Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential

  • SEN or inclusive teaching experience (preferably within a secondary or specialist setting)

  • Confident teaching students with ASC and additional learning needs

  • Strong behaviour management and classroom structure strategies

  • Reflective, flexible, and collaborative with a commitment to ongoing professional development

  • A calm, empathetic approach with high expectations for every learner
