Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching & Learning
    • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs, often across multiple subjects.
    • Use creative and flexible approaches to overcome barriers to learning.
    • Assess, monitor, and report on pupil progress regularly.
  • Support
    • Build trusting relationships with pupils, many of whom have experienced trauma or disruption.
    • Support pupils’ emotional, social, and behavioural development.
    • Work closely with parents/carers to foster a supportive home-school partnership.
  • Behaviour Management
    • Implement consistent behaviour strategies rooted in empathy and restorative practice.
    • Promote a safe, respectful, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Collaboration
    • Work with a Social workers, and external agencies. Liaise with Parents, carers and guardians.
    • Contribute to EHCP reviews, reintegration plans, and transitional support.
  • Safeguarding
    • Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures.
    • Be alert to signs of vulnerability and act promptly to protect pupils.

 Person Specification:

  • Essential
    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
    • Experience working with children with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs
    • Strong behaviour management skills
    • Resilience, patience, and a genuine passion for inclusive education
  • Desirable
    • Experience in alternative provision or special education
    • Training in trauma-informed practice or therapeutic approaches
    • Ability to teach across a range of subjects
