Role description:

Our teams are tackling some of the UK's most technically challenging projects and AMP8 programmes. We are renowned for our expertise as a specialist water industry design and build contractor in delivering these complex schemes and are trusted by the country's most prominent and well-known water companies.

We have exciting opportunities for Principal Electrical & ICA Engineers based at one of our offices across the UK (over 15 offices to choose from) with hybrid working available. Candidates at Engineer and Senior Engineer level may also be considered.

Reporting to the Regional Discipline Lead, the role is within our Engineering Team where we work to provide environmentally conscious, innovative, and sustainable solutions to the water industry to protect our world for future generations.

Role accountabilities:

  • Take a lead role on Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation design and/or packages of work, ensuring projects meet required cost, technical, legislative, quality, safety and environmental standards and objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Liaise with other disciplines to coordinate designs with engineering team, delivery team, supply chain
  • Liaison with client, the supply chain and other project stakeholders
  • Ensure standard practices are adopted wherever possible.
  • Preparation of high-quality design drawings, clear and well-structured design calculations, reports, drawings and associated other construction-ready documentation.
  • Work in accordance with our Contract, Business Management processes and procedures.
  • Assist in achieving wider business goals for positive Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality outcomes
  • Promote a culture of innovation and the fostering of continuous improvement
  • Develop hands-on experience of commercial, programme and financial matters
  • Mentoring and performance development responsibility for assigned staff

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or other directly related programme.
  • Chartered status and full membership of The Institution of Engineering & Technology.
  • Strong technical design and build experience on water projects or similar process industry.
  • Good self-motivation, influencing and people management skills
  • Knowledge and experience of BIM led design and digital tools such as REVIT / Plant 3D
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of the applicable British Standards, UK Industry Codes of Practice, and ideally Water
  • Ideally, good working knowledge and understanding of Water Industry Clients.
  • Computer literacy
  • Driving license or the ability to travel across the UK (sometimes to remote sites)
