AA Euro Group are seeking a highly experienced Welding Supervisor to join our clients team on the landmark HS2 project, overseeing the structural steel fabrication and installation works. The successful candidate will ensure all welding activities are carried out to the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate on-site welding operations for structural steel components.
- Ensure all welding works conform to BS EN ISO 3834, BS EN 1090, and relevant HS2 technical specifications.
- Monitor welder qualifications, conduct visual inspections, and liaise with third-party NDT inspectors.
- Review and interpret fabrication drawings, weld maps, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
- Maintain strict quality control records, welding traceability logs, and welding documentation.
- Support the QA/QC team during audits and inspections.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental, and site rules at all times.
- Deliver tool-box talks and promote a proactive safety culture within the welding team.
- Work closely with the Fabrication Manager, Project Engineers, and Site Supervisors to ensure smooth workflow and progress.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Welding Supervisor on major infrastructure or structural steel projects.
- CSCS Supervisor Card or equivalent.
- Certified in welding inspection – e.g., CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2, PCN Level 2, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques including MMA, MIG/MAG, TIG, and FCAW.
- Familiarity with WPS/PQR development and weld acceptance criteria.
- Excellent understanding of QA/QC processes in structural steelwork delivery.
- Demonstrable commitment to safety and quality.
Desirable:
- Experience on major UK rail or infrastructure projects (ideally HS2).
- IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS.
- Familiarity with HS2 compliance frameworks and Tier 1 contractor environments.
