SEMH Teaching Assistant - Bishop's Stortford - £100 per day - Long-term to Permanent

We're recruiting for a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH needs in a unique and therapeutic school environment in Bishop's Stortford.

This is a full-time role with long-term potential and the opportunity to become permanent for the right person. The school supports pupils aged 11-16 who have significant social, emotional and behavioural challenges, often linked to adverse life experiences and unmet needs.

The Role:

  • Working 1:1 or in small groups with pupils who require close support and consistency

  • Supporting teachers in the delivery of a broad, creative curriculum

  • Helping pupils regulate their emotions and re-engage with learning

  • Promoting independence, resilience and social development

  • Acting as a positive role model and trusted adult

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, trauma or challenging behaviour

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond sensitively to emotional needs

  • A background in youth work, care, sports coaching or education is desirable
