Position: Stores Operative / Materials Handler

Location: Bishops Stortford

Salary: 27,500 - Depending on experience

Hours: Full Time - 37.5 hours per week - 08:00am - 16:00pm, Monday to Friday

Proactive are currently in search of an experienced Stores Operative / Materials Handler to start work immediately for a client of ours in Bishops Stortford. The successful candidate will be working as part of a team within the Stores and Dispatch area, managing aspects of the material flow requirements from point of arrival, movement throughout production processes, to final outgoing transactions.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Picking, packing & processing scheduled and urgent daily orders for global service engineers and spare part requirements, working with logistics to ensure on time delivery metrics.
  • Acceptance of incoming stock deliveries, checking quantities, specification, condition and documentation in line with Quality Procedures.
  • Unpacking, Distribution and Replenishment of incoming materials to designated locations across factory floor, Quality Inspection and inventory storage units.
  • Managing traceability documents and dispatch of outgoing Returns and Non-Conforming items to suppliers.
  • Processing work orders, shipping documentation, and courier collections for daily orders, and large capital equipment orders for container freight collections.
  • Inventory Management including stock rotation, ad-hoc replenishment requirements to assembly lines, dealing with daily enquiries, and annual stock take.
  • Ensuring organized work and stock areas to maintain a tidy and safe working environment.
  • Immediate notification of issues to Purchasing / Quality Departments, and ongoing collaboration with these teams for new component introduction or changes.
  • Identify and implement new ideas and processes in line with LEAN manufacturing to increase efficiency of the job role and functions of the business.
  • Assist with kit replenishment to the assembly lines where required, working in line with Material Handler functions.

Key skill requirements:

  • Working in a similar warehouse environment, controlling and managing incoming stock, outgoing orders and ensuring accuracy with component quantities, specification and documentation.
  • Working with computer based stock management systems, supplier delivery documentation, and processing internal work orders
  • Experience in adequate packing materials and methods to ensure protection during shipping
  • Familiar with the principal of designated stock locators and control of component segregation to ensure correct issue of parts
  • History of working in a fast paced environment where set deliverable timescales must be met
  • Forklift Truck operation & experience (license preferred but can be issued following training)
