Our client are specialists In their market sector, they are looking to recruit a Stores Operative on a an initial temporary basis with a view to it going permanent basis.

The Job youll do

  • Receive and process goods into stores, completing electronic goods-in procedures promptly.
  • Conduct basic inspections of goods received, checking against technical and purchase order requirements.
  • Assist with routine stock checks to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Carry out local driving duties, transporting goods to and from suppliers and group companies.
  • Operate forklift trucks to offload deliveries and move materials within the facility.
  • Operate the steel saw and arrange billets as required.
  • Report any stock discrepancies to your line manager.
  • Perform daily yard inspections, ensuring waste is segregated and disposed of according to company policy.
  • Pack and despatch goods according to packing lists and timeframes, ensuring items are inspected and weighed.
  • Accurately complete all delivery notes, packing, and shipping documentation.
  • Enter customer information into the business system accurately.
  • Support general tasks in the despatch area, including stacking products, stocktaking, loading containers, and verifying order accuracy.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards throughout the facility.
  • Ensure safe working practices and compliance with company health, safety, and environmental policy.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as required.

About You

  • The ideal candidate will have experience working within stores and despatch, preferably in an engineering or manufacturing environment, and will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • They will be proactive and able to work independently, bringing a positive, hands-on approach to their work.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing demands, as well as the ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet deadlines, are essential.
  • Candidates should be IT literate and able to quickly learn new business systems, alongside demonstrating strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Relevant qualifications in stores, warehousing, or engineering would be an advantage, and GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths are desirable.
  • A valid, clean driving licence and a forklift truck licence are both required for this role.
