Your new companyA Lancashire-based Manufacturing SME is seeking a Group Financial Accountant in a newly created role for the business, which has come about through acquisitions earlier in the year. This person will be based at the Blackburn site of one of the newly acquired businesses, and play an integral part in building out the new Group finance function for the business.

Your new roleAs Group Financial Accountant, you will take ownership of the audit and consolidation processes for the group, ensuring compliance with tax planning, governance, and statutory requirements. You will also manage the accounting functions of two key group entities, overseeing a small team of transactional staff. Your responsibilities will include the full spectrum of financial operations-from sales and purchase ledger to cash book and general ledger management. You will produce monthly management reports, support the leadership team with financial insights, and lead system improvement initiatives. This is a varied and hands-on role that combines technical accounting with strategic input.

What you'll need to succeedYou will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), ideally with a background in practice and a strong grasp of accounting standards such as FRS 102 and IFRS. Experience in corporate or group accounting is essential, along with the ability to work autonomously and manage a small team. You'll be a proactive problem solver with excellent communication skills and a solid understanding of finance department operations, including treasury, sales, and purchase ledger functions. Industry experience is advantageous, although someone moving first-time from practice will also be considered.
