We're looking for a passionate and proactive Project Officer (Outdoor Learning) to join our Sustainable Communities team in. Based at The Hub in Blackburn, this role supports the development and delivery of impactful youth and community projects, with a strong focus on outdoor learning and environmental engagement. You'll work closely with the Senior Project Officer and Programme Coordinator to ensure projects run smoothly, achieve key objectives, and stay within budget. A core part of the role involves engaging underrepresented groups—including young people Not in Education, Training, or Employment (NEET) while raising awareness of sustainability and promoting the use of local green spaces.

Requirements

Outline of key responsibilities for the Project Officer (Outdoor Learning)...

  • To continually develop interest and engagement with a diverse range of participants representative of the local community and the surrounding areas
  • Ensuring performance objectives are met high performance against the delivery of high performing projects across the Youth and Community team
  • Contribute towards the Youth and Community team and associated projects in all aspects of responsible management of company finances.
  • Ensure that Youth and Community sites are safe and appropriate for Newground staff, volunteers, and participants.
  • With the support of the Senior Project Officer, ensure the completion and recording of all necessary health and safety, environmental and legal compliance actions.
  • With the support of the Senior Project officer, ensure that Risk Assessments for all activities and initiatives are in place prior to them taking place, and are recorded correctly.
  • Ensuring any faults or issues are reported to the Programmes Coordinator and other health and safety representatives.
  • Under the guidance of the Senior Project Officer, ensure that all activities relating to projects operate in line with Newground Togethers policies and procedures and are legally compliant

We are looking for someone who has...

  • A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle
  • Knowledge of outdoor learning
  • Experience of working with families and / or children and young people
  • Experience of working with NEETs, and / or those from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Knowledge of sustainability and current environmental issues
