School Business Manager/BursarTemporary Role (until end of July)Location: BlackburnJob Type: Full-time (Term time only, 8am - 4pm)Hourly Rate: £20.47We are seeking an experienced School Business Manager or Bursar to join a vibrant educational setting in Blackburn on a temporary basis, starting ASAP. This role is crucial for supporting the Headteacher and Trust in financial decision-making, managing school operations, and being the forward face of the school to the community.Day-to-day of the role:

  • Utilise MIS (Management Information Systems) like Sims, Arbor, or Bromcom to manage school data efficiently. Our school operates on Arbor, but we value strong MIS skills from any platform.
  • Collaborate with the Trust finance team to assist the Headteacher in financial planning, including budgeting, forecasting, and managing expenditures.
  • Handle local purchase ledger functions and ensure compliance with financial procedures.
  • Manage the Site Supervisor, ensuring the school estate is safe, secure, and compliant with relevant regulations.
  • Work closely with the Trust HR and Payroll manager to deliver local People functions, including managing sickness absence, payroll checking, and supporting recruitment processes.
  • Serve as the main 'Front of House' contact, representing the school to parents, carers, the community, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain the Single Central Record, ensuring compliance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidelines.
  • Support the Headteacher and Trust in promoting and marketing the school effectively.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a School Business Manager or Bursar, preferably within a primary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of school systems and functions.
  • Proficient in using MIS, with a preference for experience in Arbor.
  • Excellent organisational and financial management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of managing relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of compliance regulations in education, particularly KCSIE.
