CNC Turner Programmer / Setter / Operator 
Blackburn

Due to continued growth and investment in new technology, we’re looking to expand our skilled team with an experienced CNC Turner Programmer/Setter/Operator. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong experience on lathes who’s ready to take their career to the next level in a modern, forward-thinking engineering environment.

The Role

You’ll play a key role in manufacturing high-quality precision components. You'll be working in a clean, well-equipped workshop with modern CNC machines and a collaborative, supportive team.

Your responsibilities will include (training provided where needed):

  • Setting and operatingCNC lathes using proven and new programs/tooling

  • Programming new parts using CAM software and manual G-code editing (Fanuc-based controls)

  • Improving efficiency and cycle times by reviewing and updating existing programs

  • Evaluating and trialling new tooling to enhance performance and consistency

  • Running multiple machines and working with a range of materials

  • Performing in-process inspection using hand-held measuring tools and CMM

  • Daily maintenance of machines and coolant to meet H&S and compliance standards

  • Supporting the training and mentoring of apprentices and new team members

  • Keeping the work area clean, safe, and well-organised

Key requirements:

  • Apprentice trained and time-served in a CNC machining environment

  • Strong experience programming, setting and operating CNC lathes (essential)

  • Hands-on experience with both sliding head and chucking lathes

  • Confident working independently and as part of a close-knit team

  • Enthusiastic about continuous improvement, health & safety, and mentoring others

  • Able to provide constructive feedback to improve processes and reduce cycle times

  • A positive, solutions-focused mindset
