In this crucial role, you will work closely with the class teacher to deliver targeted phonics interventions and support whole-class phonics sessions. Your focus will be on helping pupils develop a strong understanding of letter sounds, blending, segmenting, and tricky words, ultimately building their confidence and fluency in reading and writing.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Working with small groups of children or individual pupils to deliver planned phonics activities and interventions, tailored to their specific needs.
- Supporting the class teacher during whole-class phonics lessons, ensuring all pupils are engaged and making progress.
- Preparing and organising resources for phonics activities.
- Monitoring and recording pupils' progress in phonics, providing feedback to the teacher.
- Helping to create a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages a love of reading.
- Reinforcing phonics learning through games and practical activities.
- Providing encouragement and positive reinforcement to build pupils' confidence.
- Liaising effectively with the class teacher and other support staff to ensure a consistent approach to phonics teaching.
