About the Role:

We're looking for an experienced and commercially astute Financial Director to lead a busy finance function and support the strategic growth of the business. Ideally from the automotive sector you'll understand the nuances of this fast-paced industry and help drive both financial control and commercial performance.

You'll be a key member of the leadership team, working closely with operations, commercial, and group stakeholders to steer the business through growth, transformation, and continued operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the finance team of 9 (plus 10 sales administrators) and own full P&L responsibility across the business
  • Manage financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting cycles
  • Provide strategic financial insight to support commercial and operational decision-making
  • Ensure compliance with all UK accounting standards and HMRC regulations
  • Monitor working capital, cash flow and capex requirements
  • Partner with heads of sales, service, and operations to improve profitability and cost control
  • Ensure robust internal controls and risk management processes are in place
  • Prepare and present monthly management accounts and board-level reports
  • Support any M&A activity, investment plans, or group-level initiatives

What You'll Bring:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
  • Previous experience in the UK automotive sector - retail, financial services, or manufacturing
  • Strong commercial acumen and hands-on approach to problem solving
  • Excellent understanding of stock, margin, and finance processes in automotive retail or manufacturing
  • Proven track record in managing and developing finance teams
  • Confident communicator with experience influencing at board level

Desirable:

  • Experience with dealer management systems (e.g. Kerridge, CDK, Pinewood, etc.)
  • Understanding of vehicle financing, leasing, used sales or fleet operations
