Reception Teaching Assistant needed for a Primary School in Blackburn
We're currently working with a lovely primary school who are looking for a Teaching Assistant to provide general classroom support in their Reception class.
This is a full-time role starting soon, expected to last 6-8 weeks. You'll be working closely with the class teacher to help create a fun, engaging, and supportive learning environment for the children.
About the role:
You'll be providing general support across the Reception classroom. Your day-to-day will include:
- Supporting children during lessons, group work, and playtime
- Helping with early phonics, reading, and number work
- Assisting the class teacher with preparing resources and setting up activities
- Encouraging positive behaviour and helping children settle into routines
- Supporting the social and emotional development of the children
Who we're looking for:
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
- At least 6 months of experience in a similar role within a school setting
- A strong background in EYFS and confidence working within the early years framework
- Good knowledge of phonics, particularly Read Write Inc
- A friendly, proactive approach and a genuine interest in early years education
Bonus if you have:
- Experience supporting early assessments and observations
- Knowledge of continuous provision and child-led learning
- A current enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply)
