Job Title: Unqualified Teaching Assistant - Specialist Provisions
Location: Blackburn, East Lancashire
Start Date: ASAP
Pay: 110 - 120 per day (dependent on experience and travel)
Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only

Are you resilient, proactive, and passionate about supporting young people? Do you have experience in care, coaching, or public service and want to make a real difference in education?

We are seeking Unqualified Teaching Assistants to work within specialist provisions in the Blackburn area of East Lancashire. These settings support children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom can display challenging behaviours.

This is a full-time position with an immediate start, ideal for individuals who can bring transferable skills from care, support, or service roles into a rewarding education environment.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 or small group basis.

  • Assist with behaviour management and promote positive, consistent routines.

  • Help deliver engaging activities to encourage pupil participation and progress.

  • Work closely with teachers and staff to create a safe, supportive environment.

  • Be adaptable and calm in challenging situations.



Suitable Backgrounds:

  • Military or Police Service

  • Sports Coaching (with children/young people)

  • Support Worker / Care Worker

  • Personal experience supporting family members with SEMH



Essential Requirements:

  • Available full-time with an ASAP start.

  • Able to drive or be comfortable travelling to Halewood via public transport.

  • A minimum of 24 months of professional employment references with no major gaps in the last 5 years.

  • Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply and pay for one.

  • Resilient, reliable, and able to work well as part of a team.
