Newground Together is seeking a skilled and dedicated Community Skills Tutor/ Assessor to join our team. As a Community Skills Tutor/ Assessor, you will play a key role in delivering engaging and informative training sessions to individuals in our local communities and community hubs. Outline of Key Responsibilities of the Community Skills Tutor/ Assessor...

  • Design and deliver training workshops and courses within the community on a range of topics. Create training plans and schemes of work that meet the requirements of accredited bodies, adhere to best practices, and achieve quality targets.
  • Utilise different teaching methods to engage learners and enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Adapt teaching materials and techniques to meet the needs of diverse learner groups.
  • Provide personalised support and guidance to learners, assisting them in setting goals and achieving personal growth.
  • Collaborate with community organizations and partners to develop training programs that cater to the needs of the local community.
  • Lead the delivery and accreditation of learner-focused provision.
  • Maintain accurate records of learner progress and outcomes. Also, demonstrate the progression and learning of participants, and monitor their program engagement accurately.
  • Stay updated on current trends and developments in adult education and community work..
  • Stay abreast of subject and course developments, best practices in subject delivery, and external requirements of funding and accreditation bodies.
  • Collaborate with the team of Employment Advisors to meet the learning needs of participants.
  • Establish connections between learning and opportunities in the local labour market.
  • Monitor and improve course content to ensure effective approaches that help clients develop confidence, overcome barriers, and achieve successful transitions and progression.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who has...

  • Experience in delivering training in a community setting to participants aged 14+ years up to retirement which enhances employability and promotes personal development.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of adult learning principles and methods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of learners.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to teaching, with the ability to respond to the needs and interests of learners and business needs.
  • A relevant teaching qualification or equivalent experience.
  • A passion for community development and promoting lifelong learning.
  • Experience of working to recognised national standards including basic skills
  • Relevant qualifications e.g. Assessor/ Assessor award (A1, TAQA D32/33), or Level 3 Award in Education and Training or Equivalent (e.g. CretEd, PGCE, PTLLs or Equivalent Training Qualification
  • Full Drivers License and access to a vehicle

  • Salary: £33,877 per annum
  • 5 days a week working from our Blackburn , East Lancashire and Calderdale hubs delivering.
  • Annual salary increments increases
  • 27 days annual leave (rising to 32 over 5 years' service) + bank holidays
  • A flexible working environment, with a range of family friendly policies
  • You will be working 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Working arrangements are flexible in line with our Smart working culture. Some out of hours working may be required in line with business needs.
