We're looking for a Senior Sustainable Communities Project Officer to lead innovative, community-led initiatives across Blackburn. We are also proud to be a Disability Confident employerRequirementsOutline of key responsibilities of the Senior Sustainable Communities Project Officer...People and relationshipsProvide effective leadership and management of staff working within the Community team and across the wider Sustainable Communities team Support the project officer(s) on site and across the Sustainable Communities team in maintaining and developing appropriate links within the local community. Engage the community through tailored activities and interventions for families and young people, based on assessed local needs, while actively recruiting and retaining participants and fostering inclusive involvement across Blackburn's communities. Develop, manage, and oversee a successful volunteering programme across diverse community projects, contributing to effective volunteer management practices within the Sustainable Communities team. Responsible for safeguarding, ensuring safeguarding policies and procedures are followed and to support on site staff with issues involving young people and vulnerable adults. Performance Ensuring the delivery of high performing projects across the Sustainable Communities team Demonstrating and implementing effective workload management practices for the Sustainable Communities team Finance Support Sustainable Communities projects in all aspects of responsible management of company finances. Ensuring financial procedures and processes are followed Work with the Sustainable Communities Coordinator to identify and develop external funding and income generation opportunities. Places Ensure that The Community Hub, Greensleeves Community Garden, the Youth Hub, and other Newground sites are safe and appropriate for Newground staff, volunteers, and participants. Monitor completion and recording of all necessary health and safety, environmental and legal compliance actions and checks for the Newground sites as required. Conduct Risk Assessments for all activities and initiatives prior to them taking place, recording, and storing them on the required Management system. Be responsible for the overall daily maintenance of The Community Hub, Greensleeves Community Garden, the Youth Hub, and other Newground sites, coordinating volunteers and work groups, and liaise with contractors when formal work is necessary. Ensure that all activities relating to projects operate in line with Newground Togethers policies and procedures and are legally compliant, We are looking for someone who has... A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle NVQ level 3 in Youth and Community Work or a relevant qualification the field of working with children and young people/community development. Experience of working with young people, single adults, and families, with a strong ability to develop positive and supportive working relationships, particularly with young people. Ability to manage projects, buildings, resources and delivery budgets. Experience of developing and delivering needs led interventions and programmes of activities for young people, families and community members at a neighbourhood level. Experience of networking and partnership working with local partners and services from statutory, voluntary and private sectors. Experience of project management including monitoring financial budgets and monitoring outputs against set targets.
