Role Overview:
As a Mechanical Estimator, you will play a crucial role in our pre-construction team, responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for mechanical projects. You will work closely with the project management and design teams to ensure accurate and competitive bids are submitted. Your expertise will contribute to the successful acquisition of new projects and the overall growth of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for mechanical projects, including materials, labour, and equipment.
Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to understand the scope of work.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and clarify project requirements.
Conduct site visits to assess project conditions and gather relevant data.
Source and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
Maintain and update cost databases, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
Prepare and present cost reports, budgets, and other documentation to senior management.
Participate in bid review meetings and provide input on pricing strategies.
Monitor and track industry trends, including changes in material costs and labour rates.
Qualifications and Experience:
Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator in the construction or engineering industry.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and installation methods.
Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with attention to detail.
Proficiency in estimation software and tools.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
