Criminal Defence Fee EarnerLocation: Blackpool / HybridSalary: Competitive, dependent on experience + On-Call Enhancements + OvertimeAre you an experienced Criminal Defence Fee Earner looking for a fresh opportunity in a dynamic and supportive environment? This is your chance to join a well-respected criminal law team, working on a varied and engaging caseload with the flexibility of hybrid working and real prospects for development.  The Role:As a key member of the criminal defence team, you’ll support clients through challenging times, providing expert representation from the police station to the courtroom. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
  • Managing your own caseload of criminal defence matters, from initial instruction through to resolution.
  • Attending police stations to represent clients during interviews under caution (if accredited).
  • Preparing cases for Magistrates’ and Crown Court, including taking statements, liaising with counsel, and gathering evidence.
  • Providing high-quality, client-focused advice, ensuring that clients understand their rights and the legal process.
  • Working closely with solicitors and other legal professionals to ensure the smooth running of cases.
  • Participating in the out-of-hours rota (if applicable), with additional pay for evening and weekend duties.
  What We’re Looking For:
  • Previous experience in criminal defence law, either as a fee earner or paralegal.
  • Police Station Accreditation (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong understanding of criminal procedure and client care.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage a busy caseload with confidence and autonomy.
  • A collaborative and proactive approach, with a genuine interest in defending clients’ rights.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle would be beneficial.
