Fire Safety Manager

Salary Range £53,000 – £64,000 (dependent on experience)

Location: Blackpool

Permanent Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

At Atlas, we take fire safety as seriously as you take your career.

Established in 2017 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Atlas provides expert facilities management to clients across the Fylde Coast and North West region. We’re proud of the high standards we deliver – and even prouder of the people who help us do it. In addition we are well placed to expand our services to a wider range of clients and have strong plans to do so.

Our profits don’t go to shareholders; they go back into supporting our partners and enhancing our services. We’re passionate about doing the right thing and upholding our values – Client Focus, Accountability, Respect and Enthusiasm.

As part of our ongoing growth, we’re now looking to appoint a dedicated and highly skilled Fire Safety Manager. This is a critical post responsible for delivering the company’s Fire Safety contract for Blackpool Teaching Hospitals, ensuring compliance across their wide and complex healthcare estate.

A pivotal role in safety and assurance

You will act as the Appointed Person (AP) for fire safety, taking responsibility for shaping and delivering an effective fire safety management strategy across both acute and community-based sites. From conducting audits and risk assessments to leading on fire safety training and reporting performance, this is a wide ranging role with serious impact.

You’ll be working closely with our clients – including clinical teams and senior Trust leaders – to ensure all fire safety legislation is met, while championing a proactive and positive safety culture throughout the organisation.

This is a position for someone who not only understands compliance but thrives on leading change and driving excellence across a critical operational area.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Act as the senior fire safety specialist and key advisor to Atlas and our clients.
  • Lead the development and implementation of fire safety policies, risk management strategies, and audit programmes.
  • Provide expert guidance and training on compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, HTM 05, and all other relevant legislation.
  • Conduct fire risk assessments, manage incident investigations, and maintain statutory documentation.
  • Liaise directly with the Trust, Fire and Rescue Services, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Prepare formal reports and performance updates for Client Boards and Assurance Committees.
  • Oversee and mentor fire safety team members, and manage external fire safety contractors.
  • Ensure seamless communication and partnership working between Atlas and the Trust on all matters of compliance and fire risk mitigation.

What you’ll bring:

  • A qualification at HNC/HND level or equivalent in a relevant discipline, and the NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Membership of a recognised fire safety body (e.g. Institute of Fire Engineers).
  • Extensive experience in fire safety management, including conducting fire risk assessments and training delivery.
  • In-depth understanding of fire-related legislation and guidance.
  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to engage across all levels – from fire wardens to Trust executives.
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for delivering services that keep people safe.

Ready to protect what matters most?

If you’re an experienced fire safety professional looking for a move into management, or a manager with the desire to develop your leadership skills in an ambitious company; and have the drive to lead from the front and make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.

Applications are to be made via CV and covering letter to our recruitment advisers at Seymour John. If you’d like an informal discussion about the role, please contact Jonathan Phillips.
