Key Responsibilities:
Supporting Welsh Language Learning: Assist in delivering Welsh language lessons and activities, helping students develop their Welsh-speaking skills both in and out of the classroom.
One-on-One and Small Group Support: Provide individual or small group support to students, helping them to understand lesson content, especially Welsh language lessons, and ensuring they make progress.
Classroom Assistance: Work closely with the teacher to support the general running of the classroom, including setting up learning resources, managing classroom behavior, and helping students with their tasks.
Encouraging Active Participation: Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging all students, particularly Welsh learners, to engage actively in lessons and discussions.
Assessment and Feedback: Support teachers in assessing students progress, especially in Welsh language skills, and providing feedback to help improve learning outcomes.
Supporting Welsh-speaking Students: Provide extra support to Welsh-speaking students or those learning Welsh as an additional language to ensure they feel confident in their ability to use Welsh in all areas of school life.
Promoting Welsh Culture: Help create and implement activities that promote Welsh culture and language within the school, encouraging students to embrace Welsh heritage.
General Classroom Management: Assist with the overall management of the classroom environment, ensuring that all students are safe, engaged, and supported.
Skills and Qualifications:
Fluent Welsh Speaker: A high standard of spoken and written Welsh is essential for this role.
Experience in Education (Preferred): Previous experience as a teaching assistant, or in a similar role, within a school setting is desirable but not essential.
Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
Patience and Adaptability: Ability to support students with varying levels of ability and adapt to different learning styles.
Passion for Welsh Language and Culture: A genuine enthusiasm for promoting and supporting the Welsh language and culture in a school setting.
Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with teachers and other staff members.
Enhanced DBS Check: A successful enhanced DBS check will be required for this position.
