- Largely working in a ‘shadow role’ the successful candidate will be commissioning, repairing, and conducting maintenance of the BRUSH range of Switchgear products, both on site and in the Brush Blackwood factory.
- The successful candidate will be able to test and commission low complexity new installations of 11kV switchgear.
- The successful candidate will be able to test and commission low complexity modifications to existing 11kV switchgear installations.
- Undergo high voltage pressure testing training and prove skill set competency whilst working in shadow role.
- Undertake fault diagnosis of switchgear and related equipment; test and rectify, as necessary.
- Prepare detailed and concise reports for submission to customers. Attend technical meetings on site and at customers’ premises as and when required.
- Undergo training as required, to ensure that current and future H&S requirements are always met.
- Supervise and train customers’ site personnel.
- Carry out an on-site dynamic risk assessments for assignment and record details thereof.
- Provide written reports on completion of each assignment.
- Accurately record time, attendance and retain VAT receipts for submission with all expense claims.

- Experience in dealing with customers effectively.
- Minimum HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering

- Ability to work with all recognised IT systems including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and internet/intranet applications.
- Experience in representing the company at customers’ sites and operating remotely on own initiative whilst observing the requirements set down in the company’s code of Conduct for Commissioning Engineers.
- Able to work with company’s rules and guidance notes on health and safety, including operation of safe systems of work in relation to high voltage and medium voltage electrical systems and work in a heavy industrial environment.
