Senior Ecologist
Somerset, Devon & Cornwall | 30,000 - 40,000 (negotiable DOE) | Full-Time | Permanent

An established and respected ecological consultancy based in the South West is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join its growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to take on a senior role, working across a range of exciting and diverse projects in one of the UK's most beautiful regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead protected species surveys, with a particular focus on bat assessments and mitigation

  • Prepare high-quality reports, licence applications, and management plans

  • Oversee and coordinate project delivery from start to finish

  • Mentor and support junior ecologists

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders

  • Travel primarily within Devon, Cornwall, and Somerset

About You

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in ecological consultancy

  • Natural England bat survey licence (ideally Level 2)

  • Strong working knowledge of UK wildlife legislation, planning policy, and licensing

  • Proven experience managing projects and producing high-level reports

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Positive, proactive approach and ability to work independently and as part of a team
