We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at a new special educational setting in Bodmin.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups
  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs)
  • Promote emotional regulation, independence, and life skills
  • Help deliver engaging and structured lessons under teacher guidance
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
  • Manage challenging behaviour using positive reinforcement
  • Provide personal care when needed

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH and/or ASD in an education or care setting
  • A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 TA, CACHE, NVQ) are desirable
  • Willingness to undergo further training (e.g. autism awareness, behaviour support)
