Our client, a respected name in the faades and cladding sector, is seeking an experienced Technical Design Manager to join their Pre-Construction team, playing a critical role in shaping, coordinating, and delivering faade designs from the ground up. This is a high-impact position that blends technical leadership, client interaction, site coordination, and design management.
Operating at the front end of the project lifecycle, you'll take a leading role in the technical development of faade solutions. From visiting site and interpreting client specifications, to overseeing design strategy and CAD handoffs, you will ensure all design inputs are accurate, coordinated, and fully aligned with project needs.
This is a hands-on, high-level role that requires exceptional communication, coordination, and technical design skills ideal for someone who enjoys translating real-world project needs into buildable, compliant solutions.
Your responsibilities will include:
Lead technical design during the Pre-Construction phase, overseeing concept development and early-stage design coordination.
Attend site visits to gather critical project data: dimensions, constraints, existing structures, and interface conditions.
Engage directly with clients, architects, and consultants to interpret technical specifications and performance requirements.
Capture and document site measurements and design inputs, passing clear, structured briefs to the CAD design team for production.
Develop faade system strategies (rainscreen cladding, curtain walling, unitised, bespoke systems), ensuring feasibility and compliance.
Review and sign off technical drawings, supporting the team in refining layouts, fixing details, and interfacing conditions.
Collaborate with estimating, commercial, and project delivery teams to align the design with budget, programme, and site logistics.
Ensure all design work adheres to relevant regulations, including fire safety, thermal performance, CWCT, and NHBC standards.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
5+ years of technical faade/cladding experience, with strong exposure to design development and pre-construction involvement.
Proven track record in translating site conditions and client briefs into robust faade design solutions.
Comfortable working on-site, liaising with main contractors, clients, and design consultants.
Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, system buildability, material performance, and fixing methodology.
Skilled in interpreting drawings and specifications; hands-on experience with AutoCAD, and ideally Revit or 3D tools.
Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-focused approach to design challenges.
Background in Faade Engineering, Architecture, Civil/Structural Engineering or related discipline preferred.
What's on Offer:
A technically diverse role within a respected faade contractor, operating across landmark UK projects.
The opportunity to work at the heart of the pre-construction process, shaping projects from day one.
Competitive salary, benefits, and clear career progression in a growing, forward-thinking team.
A collaborative culture that rewards initiative, quality, and technical leadership.
