Adecco are currently looking for a number of School Kitchen Assistants to work for our clients across Bolton on a casual basis.
Duties:
- Assisting in the preparation of simple meals and snacks (e.g. sandwiches, salads, baked goods)
- Serving food to students and staff in a polite and efficient manner
- Operating the till and handling cash/card payments accurately
- Ensuring food hygiene and safety standards are maintained at all times
- Cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils, and surfaces regularly
- Washing up and maintaining cleanliness in the dining area
- Assisting with stock rotation and checking deliveries
- Reporting any maintenance or safety issues to the kitchen supervisor
- Supporting the cook or chef with basic food prep tasks
- Wearing appropriate protective clothing (e.g. apron, hairnet, gloves)
- Following school policies and procedures, including allergy and dietary requirements
- Helping with setting up and clearing away before and after meal service
Requirements:
- Food hygiene knowledge (Level 2 Food Safety Certificate is preferred)
- Previous experience in a catering or kitchen environment
- Experience using a till
- Basic numeracy skills (especially for operating a till and handling money)
- Ability to follow health and safety and food safety regulations
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical fitness to carry out manual tasks (e.g. lifting, standing for long periods)
- Reliability and punctuality
- Friendly and approachable manner, especially when interacting with children
Desired Requirements:
- Knowledge of dietary requirements and allergens
- Understanding of safeguarding practices in a school setting
Additional Information
Job Type: Temporary, casual
Days: Between Monday and Friday
Hours: Various shifts available between the hours of 7am-3pm
Hourly Rate: 12.21ph
