SEND Teaching Assistant

Forever Teaching is proud to be supporting a welcoming and community-driven Secondary SEND School in Bolton. We are looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team in a long term, full time role, providing tailored support to pupils with Autism, ADHD, Social and Emotional Mental Health Needs and Behavioural Challeneges.

The SEND Teaching Assistant Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and group support to students with complex needs, ensuring their learning and well-being are prioritised.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to implement individualised education plans (IEPs).
  • Assist in delivering engaging and differentiated activities suited to pupils’ needs and abilities.
  • Use strategies to support communication, such as Makaton, PECs, or similar methods (training provided if needed).
  • Help create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment to foster pupils' social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Provide support during break times and transitions to ensure students feel safe and supported throughout the day.

SEND Teaching Assistant Requirements

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly those with complex needs.
  • Is empathetic, patient, and passionate about supporting students to overcome barriers to learning.
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is proactive, adaptable, and works well as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are desirable but not essential.
