Job Title: Panel Wireman/Woman

Our forward-thinking company, Micro Can Ltd who is at the forefront of packaging technology, specialising in providing high-performance packaging equipment to the beverage sector. We are expanding our team and looking for an experienced Panel Wireman/Woman to oversee our new Control Panel building department. This position is for you if you have a dynamic, fast paced, busy work ethos, can step up to the mark and love to embrace new technology.
Job Description
- Panels and switchgear work including stepper motor control, PLC wiring and safety circuits.
- Responsible for assembly of control panels.
- Layout and mechanical assembly of panels according to technical drawings. Electrical wiring to schematic drawing.
- Point to point checks of completed panels.
- Mechanical fitting. Some PLC knowledge preferred.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring systems in accordance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Use hand tools and power tools effectively to complete tasks efficiently.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople to complete projects on time and within specifications.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered. Keep work areas clean and organised to promote a safe working environment. Possibility of occasional on site work.
Qualifications
- Electrical qualification level 3 or above, BTEC or City & Guilds electrical qualification or recognised apprenticeship.
- Proven experience as a Wireman or in a similar electrical role.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools related to electrical work. Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring diagrams, and safety protocols. Ability to read technical drawings and specifications accurately.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
- Willing to demonstrate quality of workmanship.
- Clean driving license.
Benefits and Schedule
- Starting salary negotiable dependending on experience, plus occasional overtime. Yearly bonus.
- Monday to Friday core hours 8am to 5pm. (optional early start and finish Friday's)
- 30 days holidays to include Bank Holidays and Christmas close down.
- 8 month probationary period.
