Special Needs Teaching Assistant - Primary School

Location: Bolton (BL1)
Salary: 450 - 525 per week
Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3pm

A supportive and inclusive Primary School in the BL1 area of Bolton is seeking a compassionate and committed Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them to thrive both academically and emotionally.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and the SENCo, supporting pupils with a range of needs including Autism, social communication difficulties, speech & language needs, and social-emotional challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs

  • Help implement tailored strategies and interventions to meet individual needs

  • Assist the class teacher with planning, resources, and adapting learning tasks

  • Encourage and support children's social, emotional, and behavioural development

  • Work collaboratively with the wider staff team to maintain an inclusive environment

  • Support with movement breaks, sensory activities, and structured routines

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEN (Autism, ADHD, SEMH or speech & language needs desirable)

  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to remain calm, consistent, and positive

  • Level 2/3 TA qualification preferred but not essential for the right candidate
