The Opportunity
Prime Workforce, on behalf of BEAR Scotland, is seeking an Entry-Level Operative to join their team in supporting road maintenance and improvement works across the trunk road network. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in the infrastructure and road maintenance sector while contributing to projects that improve the safety and efficiency of Scotland’s road network.
Key Responsibilities
As an Entry-Level Operative, you will:
• Assist with Road Maintenance Activities: Support the team in various road maintenance tasks, including surface repairs, signage, and other essential infrastructure work.
• Carry out General Labouring Tasks: Perform general labouring duties, including cleaning work areas, assisting with the unloading of materials, and preparing equipment for use.
• Support Installation and Repairs: Assist in the installation and maintenance of safety barriers, road signs, and other infrastructure, under the supervision of more experienced operatives.
• Operate Tools and Equipment: Safely operate relevant tools and equipment under guidance, ensuring that all activities are performed in line with health and safety protocols.
• Follow Instructions: Work closely with senior team members, following instructions and adhering to safety guidelines to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
• Adhere to Safety Standards: Ensure compliance with all health and safety procedures on site, including wearing the appropriate protective equipment and reporting any hazards.
• Assist with Site Preparation: Help prepare and maintain work sites, ensuring they are tidy and safe for ongoing tasks.
Your Skills and Experience
To excel in this role, you will bring:
• Willingness to Learn: A strong desire to learn and develop new skills in road maintenance and infrastructure work.
• Hands-on Experience: While no prior experience is required, any experience in construction, roadworks, or general labouring will be advantageous.
• Health and Safety Awareness: A basic understanding of health and safety procedures, with a willingness to follow safety protocols on site.
• Communication Skills: Good communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team.
• Physical Fitness: The ability to carry out physically demanding tasks as part of a team.
• Driving Licence: A full, approved UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.
