Job Title: Early Years PractitionerReports to: Early Years Leader

Start Date: ImmediateDaily Rate: £120-£130 per dayPermanent Salary Range: £24,027 - £25,183 (Grade H3)

Location: Borehamwood, Hertfordshire

Purpose of the Role:To support teaching and learning within the Early Years setting, working closely with teachers and occasionally leading class sessions. The post-holder will help deliver targeted support based on children's individual needs and contribute to the school's positive learning environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support small groups and individual pupils under the guidance of qualified teachers
  • Observe and track pupil progress, reporting findings as required
  • Help plan and evaluate learning activities
  • Adjust teaching methods and resources to support a variety of learning needs
  • Promote pupils' emotional and social development
  • Provide targeted support to pupils with special educational needs, EAL, or who are gifted and talented
  • Support curriculum delivery in a specific area such as early literacy, numeracy, or ICT
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and professionals involved in the care and development of children

Additional Responsibilities May Include:

  • Supervising pupils during school hours, including lunchtimes and outdoor play
  • Preparing learning resources and managing classroom displays
  • Providing guidance to other support staff or trainees
  • Supporting children with basic care needs, promoting independence
  • Attending reviews and contributing to personalised learning plans
  • Accompanying pupils on school trips and off-site activities

Essential Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • A DfE-approved Level 3 Early Years qualification
  • Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Sound understanding of the EYFS framework
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices
  • Competence with ICT and data protection principles
  • Paediatric First Aid training (desirable)
