Job Description: Site Manager / Sub Agent



Role Overview


We are seeking an experienced Site Manager / Sub Agent to oversee the delivery of a highways project involving the demolition of an existing culvert and the construction of a new structure. The role will focus on the day-to-day management of site operations, subcontractor supervision, and ensuring full compliance with design, health and safety, and programme requirements.



Key Responsibilities



Site Supervision


  • Manage and oversee daily site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with the project programme.

  • Supervise and coordinate subcontractor activities, ensuring compliance with scope, quality standards, and deadlines.


Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance


  • Enforce site health and safety protocols and carry out regular site inspections.

  • Ensure environmental controls are implemented and maintained, particularly around watercourses and during demolition works.


Quality Assurance


  • Monitor and verify subcontractor performance against design drawings and project specifications.

  • Proactively address quality issues and ensure corrective measures are implemented where necessary.


Essential Skills & Qualifications


  • Proven experience in highways or civil engineering projects, ideally involving culverts or drainage structures.

  • Strong background in subcontractor management and site coordination.

  • In-depth knowledge of CDM Regulations and temporary works procedures.

  • Valid CSCS card (Site Manager level), SMSTS, and First Aid certification.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

  • Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills.


Desirable Skills


  • Experience working under NEC contracts and delivering small to medium-value infrastructure schemes.

  • Familiarity with digital site management and reporting tools.
