Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council are seeking an experienced and motivated SENDTeam Manager to lead the coordination and delivery of high-quality statutory SEND processes, ensuring inclusive practice and positive outcomes for children aged 0–25.

Location: BCP Council 

Set-up: Hybrid (1-2 days per week on-site)

Rate: £500/day via umbrella, inside IR35

Duration: Initial 3-month contract, potential extension

Hours: Full-time position

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead, supervise, and support a team to deliver consistent, high-quality SEND assessment and review services in line with legislation and best practice
  • Oversee Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments, ensuring robust, timely decision-making and compliance with statutory deadlines
  • Drive service performance through effective planning, quality assurance, and data-informed decision-making
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support successful transitions across educational stages
  • Promote inclusive education by reducing reliance on out-of-authority placements and supporting local provision development

Requirements:

  • Local Government experience required for initial shortlisting, then thereafter at the client’s discretion
  • Extensive experience in SEND, including applying legal frameworks, managing complex casework, and contributing to strategic service development
  • Proven ability to supervise and develop staff, with experience in performance management and coaching
  • Strong understanding of relevant SEND legislation and policy, including EHCP processes, exclusions, and admissions
  • Experience in managing services or teams within education, social care, health, or public administration
