GSL Education are welcoming applications for the position of Part-Time Teaching Assistant (TA) to work within a specialist SEND school in Bournemouth. This role is ideal for individuals who are compassionate, patient, and eager to support children with a range of additional learning and behavioural needs.

About the Role:

As a Part-Time Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with SEND, both in the classroom and during structured activities. You will work collaboratively with teachers and the SEN team to foster an inclusive, nurturing, and engaging environment where all children can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with a variety of SEND, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies.
  • Encourage student participation, independence, and engagement in learning activities.
  • Support the social and emotional development of students.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment.
  • Liaise with teachers, therapists, and parents where appropriate.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND in a school, care, or community setting is highly desirable.
  • A patient, caring, and positive attitude.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to the needs of different pupils.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (desirable).
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
