Housing Officer

We are seeking a dedicated Housing Officer to manage a portfolio of approximately 120 rented properties across Bournemouth, Poole, and Southampton. This role involves managing a mix of general needs and supported tenancies, requiring flexibility, excellent customer service skills, and a strong understanding of property management.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Conduct scheme inspections to ensure health & safety, identify necessary repairs, and maintain communal areas.
  • Perform customer home visits for tenancy audits, address housing issues, conduct basic repair inspections, and prepare damp & mould reports.
  • Handle general housing enquiries via phone, email, and letter.
  • Provide support to tenants to help sustain their tenancies.
  • Manage voids and lettings, including requesting nominations, showing vacant properties, and overseeing tenancy sign-ups.
  • Investigate and address nuisance and anti-social behaviour reports.
  • Ensure tenants understand their rights and responsibilities.
  • Conduct estate inspections and monitor cleaning, grounds maintenance, and repairs.
  • Promote tenant and resident engagement in service delivery and decision-making.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Professional qualification in housing management or relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework of social housing and property/tenancy management.
  • Experience in general needs housing/tenancy management and supported housing.
  • Understanding of issues faced by tenants with learning disabilities, mental health needs, and physical/sensory impairments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and housing management systems.
  • Full clean driving licence and use of own car.
