We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team at the Bournemouth Campus. This role is crucial in providing essential learning and accessibility support to young people and adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those with severe and complex learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
Day-to-day of the role:
Provide person-centred learning support in line with individual Educational Health & Care Plans (EHCPs).
Support students in subjects such as Business, I.T., Maths, and English.
Facilitate the personal development of learning/study skills and educational outcomes.
Work with individuals or small groups to encourage engagement with activities or independent work.
Assist with personal care and mobility needs of students as required.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, teachers, parents/carers, and other agencies involved.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Good literacy and numeracy skills.
Experience of working with SEN learners in a secondary or further education environment is desirable.
Understanding of safeguarding, discrimination issues, and the challenges faced by individuals with learning difficulties.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to establish good working relationships.
Strong organisational skills with proficient IT knowledge and sound administration skills.
Willingness to assist learners with personal care and mobility, following instructions from learners regarding their support needs.
