About the Role:

As an SEN Mentor, you will play a vital role in building positive relationships with students who require additional support due to a variety of learning and behavioural needs. You will work closely with pupils to promote confidence, resilience, and independence through tailored one-to-one mentoring and small group sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer emotional, behavioural, and academic support to pupils with SEND.
  • Establish trust and rapport with students, acting as a consistent and positive role model.
  • Implement strategies to support students in managing anxiety, behaviour, and social interaction.
  • Support classroom activities in collaboration with teaching staff and SEN professionals.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, identifying areas of growth and ongoing need.
  • Help maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND, SEMH, or behavioural challenges is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and motivate vulnerable learners.
  • A calm, consistent, and supportive approach to managing challenging situations.
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and a commitment to pupil welfare.
  • A relevant qualification in education, mentoring, or youth work is advantageous.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
