My client is seeking a talented and proactive Group Commercial / Data Analyst to join a leading UK provider in its sector. This rapidly growing Group, recently acquired by a Private Equity firm, operates multiple well-known brands.
About the Opportunity:
Reporting to the Head of FP&A, this pivotal position acts as a vital bridge between finance and operational departments. It's more than a standard finance role; you'll provide critical commercial analysis and insights that directly influence strategic decisions and drive business growth, stepping away from routine month-end activities.
Your Impact Will Include:
- Developing and deploying advanced queries to extract, process, and analyze data for actionable insights and dashboards.
- Interpreting complex data sets to uncover trends, identify anomalies, and reveal new business possibilities.
- Delivering evidence-based support for key strategic initiatives, including evaluating business cases.
- Monitoring performance metrics and flagging areas of risk or opportunity against financial plans.
- Becoming a subject matter expert in relevant data platforms (e.g., Power BI) to ensure data integrity and clarity in reporting.
- Assisting with the Group's annual financial planning cycles and ongoing forecasts.
- Maintaining and enhancing reporting systems for sales and profitability.
- Presenting findings and recommendations to senior management to facilitate critical decision-making.
- Staying abreast of the latest developments in data analytics and visualisation techniques.
What We're Looking For:
- At least three years in a data analysis role, with a track record of consistent achievement and seeing projects through to completion.
- A strong academic background (degree qualification, 2:1 or higher).
- Expertise in constructing complex SQL queries for data extraction.
- A flair for translating intricate data into compelling visual narratives.
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
- Demonstrated ability to create effective dashboards and reports across various systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with familiarity in data query tools (e.g., Access, SQL, Power BI).
- Familiarity with statistical methods for deriving data-driven conclusions.
- A highly analytical mind, capable of financial modelling and commercial analysis that adds measurable value.
- Exceptional communication skills, adept at conveying complex information to non-technical audiences.
- A self-motivated and proactive individual, comfortable working autonomously to identify and implement improvements.
