Job Summary:

Our client, a dynamic and forward-thinking law firm, is seeking a pre-litigation Claims Handler with at least 12 months of experience to join their busy team in defending pre-litigation Employer's Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL) claims. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong IT proficiency, and the ability to work methodically and process-driven. Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are essential. This is a hands-on, fee-earning role with training provided.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of your supervisor, your main duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the defence of EL/PL personal injury claims from inception up to, but not including, litigation – preferably with a focus on retail.

  • Utilising the MOJ EL/PL Portal effectively.

  • Communicating with opponents, experts, statutory bodies, and clients via email, telephone, and written correspondence.

  • Negotiating on issues of liability and quantum.

  • Pursuing recovery of client’s losses from third parties where appropriate.

  • Maintaining accurate financial, reserve, and risk management information on all claims.

  • Complying with internal, client, and procedural protocols.

  • Reviewing and meeting personal objectives.

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and potential clients, ensuring a high standard of client care at all times.

  • Providing excellent customer service to litigants in person.

  • Keeping up to date with relevant legislation and practice through ongoing training.

  • Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with SRA/Law Society Regulations.

  • Adhering to the firm’s Equality & Diversity Policy in all duties and responsibilities.
