The Opportunity:

We are delighted to be recruiting for an Air Conditioning Engineer on behalf of our client, a leading organisation in the FM sector. In this role, you will be responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of a range of new and existing building AC/HVAC services. Your duties will encompass planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance, diagnostic checks, and fault finding on HVAC appliances. You will also undertake general maintenance tasks, including basic plumbing and toilet unblocking, to support the wider maintenance team. Participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota is required, and you will ensure all work-related documentation is completed accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute routine PPM tasks in line with the SFG20 framework.
  • Carry out reactive maintenance and electrical or air conditioning repairs as needed.
  • Undertake minor new works and complete necessary certification.
  • Attend site meetings and training as required.
  • Procure materials and equipment through the Supervisor or Manager.
  • Be available for necessary works outside normal hours with additional pay.
  • Participate in a call-out rota with additional remuneration.
  • Maximise the use and compliance with mobile technology (Smartphone).
  • Adhere to and promote the company and department mission, vision, and values.
  • Assist the site team in ensuring all Statutory and Legislative requirements are met.
  • Ensure strict adherence to client operational procedures.
  • Obtain necessary authorisation for access to restricted areas.
  • Complete risk assessments and worksheets for undertaken works and secure client representative authorisation.

What Our Client is Looking For:

  • Desirable: Experience in maintenance, testing, and fault finding on HVAC systems and lighting.
  • Essential Refrigeration or Air Conditioning Specific Qualification (Not being F-Gas) such as:
    • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Air Conditioning and Small Refrigeration.
    • City & Guilds Refrigeration and Air-conditioning (7189) Level 2 or 3.
    • City & Guilds Refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump systems (6090) Level 3 only.
  • Essential: F-Gas Category 1 (City & Guilds 2079, previously 2078 Safe Handling of Refrigerants).
  • Essential: Significant time served (likely 5+ years) in an Air Con specific service role (not installation).
  • Preferable: Experience with packaged or air handling equipment, as well as split type systems.
  • Essential: Experience working on commercial equipment (not domestic installers).
  • Essential: C&G 236 Part 1 & 2.
  • Essential: BS7671 Electrical Regulations.
  • Desirable: C&G 2391 Electrical Inspection and Testing.
  • Ability to handle a full range of maintenance and installation tasks within the contract scope.
  • Proactive with strong diagnostic and repair skills.
  • Ability to accurately record work on worksheets and computer systems.
  • Effective prioritisation of workload.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Professional presentation, adhering to uniform and PPE guidelines.
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Good understanding of current Health & Safety legislation and building Statutory Compliance.
  • Ability to lift and carry tools/equipment up to 20kg and work at height.
  • Commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Must be available for a call-out rota.
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence.
