Many of the young people will have experienced trauma at a young age and so find it difficult to understand and control their thoughts and feelings around this. The young people may have significant attachment issues and will often find it very difficult to build and maintain positive trusting relationships with adults and their peers. The young people may have experienced bereavement and loss and the impact of that loss, can be overwhelming for them.
Some of the young people who live at the home will need additional support around access to education and health services such as CAMHS. They may also require support around substance and alcohol misuse and smoking cessation.
Young people may be in the criminal justice system and will need support around their criminal behaviour, restorative justice and reparation.
It is our aim and ambition to provide inspirational care, tailored to the individual needs of the young people living at the home.
Through support, encouragement and our 'Model of Care', we aim to create a stable and secure base, where young people have a sense of belonging and where they can begin to understand, address and work through their past experience and present difficulties and behaviours and be able to prepare for and achieve their full potential in their futures.
