Bradford Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join its AMHP Hub. This is a full-time position, working standard office hours, providing essential Mental Health Act services across the Bradford district.
The successful candidate will undertake a range of Mental Health Act assessments, ensuring that individuals in crisis receive timely, lawful, and person-centred support. You will work closely with colleagues from health and social care, as well as external agencies, to deliver safe and effective outcomes for service users.
You will receive regular supervision and professional support from the AMHP Lead, enabling you to maintain high standards of practice and reflective professional development.
Rate: 40 per hour
Hours: 08:30 - 17:00, Monday to Friday (37 hours per week)
Contract: Full-time, ongoing assignment

Key Responsibilities
Undertake Mental Health Act assessments across the district in accordance with statutory requirements.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated responses to individuals in crisis.
Ensure all practice complies with relevant legislation, local policies, and professional codes of conduct.
Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the AMHP service through reflective practice and feedback.
Maintain accurate and timely records of all assessments and decisions.
Requirements
Current AMHP warrant and registration with Social Work England, NMC, or HCPC.
Proven experience conducting Mental Health Act assessments.
Excellent understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended 2007) and associated legislation.
Ability to make sound professional judgments under pressure.
Strong communication and partnership-working skills.
