NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting on behalf od a Secondary and SEN School based in Bradford who are looking for Behaviour Support Assistants to join their team on a full-time contract basis starting as soon as possible.

This school caters for Secondary aged students who live with Special Educational Needs including; Autism, ADHD, Learning Difficulties, Medical/Physical needs and Social and Emotional Mental health needs.

The role of a Behaviour Mentor is to act as a role-model in school and to support pupils with behavioural needs and additional needs in the school from Year 7 - Year 11 who may also have additional special needs. Your role will be to work in classrooms and support small groups of children as well as children on a 1:1 basis.

Key Responsibilities of Behaviour Support:

  • Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, providing tailored support to meet their specific SEN and SEMH needs
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers and SENCO to implement personalised learning plans
  • Help to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours in line with school policies
  • Provide emotional support to students, fostering their confidence and well-being
  • Assist with the delivery of interventions and learning activities, both inside and outside the classroom
  • Contribute to the creation of a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A genuine passion for supporting students with SEMH and SEN needs
  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, with excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of SEMH and strategies for supporting emotional and behavioural development (such as TeamTeach)
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
