Are you a passionate, patient, and committed individual with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?

We are seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated and supportive team within a special needs provision for primary-aged children. This role involves working across different classes, providing one-to-one and group support to children with a range of needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).

?? Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the learning and development of pupils with a variety of complex needs
  • Work across different classrooms to offer targeted assistance where needed
  • Implement individual learning plans under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO
  • Provide personal care and physical support for pupils with PMLD
  • Use a range of communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, and visual timetables
  • Help manage challenging behaviours in a calm and proactive manner
  • Foster a nurturing, inclusive, and safe learning environment

? Requirements:

  • Proven experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role
  • Confidence and competence supporting children with PMLD, including personal care
  • Knowledge of Autism, ADHD, and a range of additional needs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Resilient, adaptable, and emotionally intelligent
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning, or equivalent) are desirable
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

�? Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience with manual handling and use of hoists
  • Basic understanding of sensory integration strategies
  • First Aid and/or Team Teach training
