With their Head office based in Braintree, Essex, and a headcount of 120 employees, they are a trusted partner to the UK’s leading mobile network operators.

They are seeking a Telecoms Project Accountant to join their dynamic finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic finance professional to gain hands-on experience in project accounting within the fast-paced telecoms industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Financial Management:

o Assist in the financial management of telecom projects, ensuring accurate accounting and timely reporting.

o Support in preparing project budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking for multiple telecoms projects.

o Monitor project expenditures against budgets and highlight variances to the Operations team.

  1. Cost Control and Analysis:

o Track project-related expenses, ensuring they align with approved budgets and contractual agreements.

o Assist in the analysis of cost trends and provide insight into cost overruns, savings, or risks.

o Work with project managers to ensure costs are properly allocated and managed throughout the project lifecycle.

  1. Revenue Recognition:

o Assist in the calculation and recognition of project revenue in accordance with applicable accounting standards.

o Ensure project billing is completed on time, and revenue is correctly recorded based on project milestones and customer contracts.

  1. Project Accounting Support:

o Assist in maintaining accurate project accounting records, including the posting of project-related invoices, costs, and revenues.

o Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including project reporting, reconciliations, and accruals.

o Support in preparing project financial statements and internal financial reports for senior management.

  1. Financial Reporting:

o Prepare periodic project reports including budget vs. actual, profit and loss, cash flow projections, and project performance KPIs.

o Support the preparation of financial data for internal and external audits related to telecoms projects.

o Conduct regular audits to ensure data accuracy and mitigate financial risks

o Manage internal reporting tasks to all stakeholders - management, investors, and external bodies

  1. Collaboration and Communication:

o Liaise with project managers, engineers, and external stakeholders to provide financial insights and updates on project status.

o Support communication between the finance team and operational teams to ensure alignment on project financial objectives.

o Assist in resolving any project-related finance issues, including queries from project teams and suppliers.

Requirements

  • Qualified or working towards a professional qualification
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, revenue recognition and cost management
  • Proficiency in accounting software
  • Previous experience in accounting/finance, with project accounting being an advantage
