Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading energy from waste company to recruit a Resident Engineer within their Servicing team to work on site in Braintree, Essex. The Resident Engineer role comes with a salary of up to 77,000 + private medical + benefits. Responsibilities and duties of the Resident Engineer As the Resident Engineer, you will:

  • Represent the service provider on site, ensuring all Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA) obligations are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with contractual requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage annual outages, routine maintenance, and emergent repair work to minimise downtime and maximise plant reliability.
  • Work closely with the client to align operational, maintenance, and emergency procedures while maintaining full compliance with HSEQ legislation and site standards.
  • Monitor day-to-day site activities for safety, environmental, and operational compliance, supporting investigations into incidents or near-misses.
  • Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting support, and operational advice to ensure plant equipment is maintained and operated correctly.
  • Oversee spare-parts management, supplier coordination, and procurement activities to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of maintenance work.
  • Collaborate with internal warranty, service, and contract management teams to ensure clear scope boundaries and seamless delivery across all service activities.


Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Extensive experience in plant operations, maintenance, or service engineering within power generation, energy, waste-to-energy, or process industries.
  • Proven experience managing LTSAs or similar long-term service or maintenance contracts, with strong technical and commercial awareness.
  • Strong background in outage planning, contractor management, and executing maintenance programmes in industrial environments.
  • Excellent working knowledge of HSEQ regulations and experience leading safe systems of work on operational sites.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the confidence to liaise directly with clients and suppliers.
