Design and Technology Teacher (Resistant Materials)

Location: Braintree

Start Date: Immediately

Contract Type: Full-time

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Design and Technology Teacher with a passion for Resistant Materials to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Design and Technology department based in Braintree. As a DT Teacher, you will inspire and guide our students through the exciting world of design and manufacturing, enabling them to explore their creativity and develop key skills for the future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching in Resistant Materials at Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Plan and implement engaging lessons that encourage practical and theoretical learning.
  • Develop a curriculum that reflects the latest trends and technologies in design and manufacturing.
  • Support students in their project work, helping them design, create, and evaluate practical solutions.
  • Promote creativity and innovation in design processes.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the department to share best practices and resources.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students and assist in their academic and personal development.
  • Support students in preparation for GCSE exams and assessments.

Person Specification:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in teaching Resistant Materials or a related subject at Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Design and Technology and the ability to inspire students.
  • A passion for hands-on teaching and practical project work.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and contribute to the wider school community.
  • Experience of preparing students for GCSE exams is desirable.
