Robert Half are excited to be working with not for profit organisation in Brecon who are currently recruiting for a trainee/assistant Accountant

They are offering a base salary up to £30K + Bonus + growth opportunities + Hybrid (2 days in the office once fully trained).

Duties would include:

  • Updating the actual costs in the project cashflows for various projects on a monthly basis and dealing with project manager queries.
  • Updating the organisation's resource planner on a monthly basis for all projects
  • Managing the staff pension payments for annual changes and monthly reconciliation of the pension control account
  • Managing the VAT coding for the charity's partial VAT status - training & support provided by the CFO
  • Managing the budget template used by all projects and updating for changes in staff day rates
  • Opportunity to develop financial accounting skills for the right candidate including involvement in the monthly management accounts and the year-end statutory accounts

NOTE: The trainee/ assistant accountant would still be expected to carry out the purchase ledger clerk duties but not the administrative support for departments and the management team. We are a small organisation and each role is varied and interesting with the opportunity to develop to their full potential in a supportive environment.

Desired Profile:

  • At least 2 years' experience of working in a finance department
  • Qualified to AAT, CIMA or ACCA part qualified, or strong qualification by experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines
  • Willingness to support other finance team staff during busy periods
  • Basic knowledge of VAT rules for processing invoices
  • Experience of processing transactions on accounting software
  • Strong excel skills including using basic formulae and tables

Skills Required - Desirable (for the Trainee/ Assistant Financial Accountant)

  • Excel skills - including Pivot Tables, SUMIFS, graphs, Power Query, Lookups
  • Experience of month end financial accounting including accruals and prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
